6 Macro Tracking Myths.. Busted!

1. You have to hit your numbers perfectly for it to work

There is no such thing as perfect in the real world! So no matter how perfect you are on paper… you still aren’t perfect. However, this does lead to the idea behind getting as close to “perfect” on paper as possible to minimize as much variance as possible. You CAN make progress with far less than perfect adherence to your plan. Bottom line, you’ll get out what you put in and your expectations must be aligned with your actions.

2. You have to eat SO MUCH protein

In our society, protein is really misunderstood! Some think it’s bad, some think it’s TOO good.. We need certain amounts to build muscle and we need that coming in consistently. SO MUCH is a relative term.. American diets are typically very low in protein and in general we consume considerably less than is indicated to support muscle growth. So going from eating less than 50g PER DAY to eating around 25-30g PER MEAL can seem like a lot.. But it’s really not :)

3. It won't work for people on special diets

It is actually THE BEST for people needing to eat certain foods or not eat certain foods, because you can eat whatever you want! Numbers are numbers and all foods have them and can get you to the same end goal!

4. It's only for fitness fanatics

It is very common in the fitness world, true. BUT anyone can benefit from it! It’s no different than a budget. It’s no problem for people to track their financial budget, their minutes on social media, how many minutes they finished a 5k faster, how much they need to adjust their budget when life changes, etc. But pay attention to what we put in our bodies?? What?!! In reality EVERYONE should be tracking their food intake!! You can’t make changes if you don’t know what you’re already doing..

5. It's not for people who have a lot of weight to lose

This one couldn’t be more false!! In all honesty, tracking macros can help anyone with any goal! And not only that, but continuing to track macros long term can help you maintain any progress made

6. It's too much counting & math

If you have the right tracking app, you don’t have to do any math! The tracking app will calculate everything for you.
