Motivation Myths...And why it isn't what you're lacking!!! (Part 3)

Here we are again with the final blog post in this series on Motivation myths and why it isn’t what you’re lacking.

We hope this series has brought some clarity and helped you see through these myths and stories we tell ourselves simply to let ourselves off the hook!!

In the 2 previous posts we touched on:

  • Just think positive. If you believe it, it will happen.

  • People who continue to improve in their endeavors, are always motivated.

  • People who are always motivated maintain their motivation because it is easy for them.

  • Being motivated means you will always feel like doing it (whatever the it may be for you at the moment)

  • Motivation comes from external sources

If you missed them, go back and check them out!

Change Your Habits.. Change Your Mindset.. Then it Becomes a Lifestyle!

We have 2 more myths to address!

Myths:

6. Being motivated means you will always be excited to complete the task at hand.

Let’s face it, play is fun, it makes us happy, we’d all almost always rather be sitting in a lounge chair on a tropical beach, or offshore fishing, or downhill skiing, or shopping, or playing video games, etc. The point is we’d all love to be able to get everywhere we want to be in life by just playing…. But it doesn't work that way, and you CAN find a happy balance!

There is a time and a place for play, a time and a place for work, and a time and a place for health and fitness.

What does your priority list look like? Indeed every yes brings with it a no.. what’s important to you? How important? What can you say no to, in order to say yes to something that is a higher priority?

“Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do - even when it doesn’t look like it makes any difference. And they do it long enough for the compounding effect to start to kick in.” -The Slight Edge

7. Saying “Just do your best” is a good way to motivate yourself or others.

False! It may be a good thing to encourage yourself or someone else to not be afraid of failing and to take action, but “best” could be interpreted very differently and adjusted to be whatever you or the other person wants it to be. It doesn’t encourage you to push a little harder, it encourages complacency. It says, just good enough is okay.

“Failure is the mother of success” and you’ll never find success if you stand on the sidelines afraid to fail! You’ll never get any better if you always stick with what you know or what your best was yesterday..

Dare to fail! And fail to succeed!

You don’t NEED Motivation.

You NEED to take responsibility and make choices that reflect what you genuinely want to achieve!

----> Will you be a part of the statistical majority or will you be one of the few to stop the stories, drop the scapegoat and make choices that will lead you down the road to success?! <----

It’s just as easy to do as it is not to do.. Promise :)
